Benchmarking
The Society for
Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) has partnered
with American Productivity Quality Center (APQC), the premier
benchmarking company recognized worldwide for their benchmarking
expertise. SMRP and APQC have jointly developed the Maintenance
and Reliability Benchmarking Survey to provide a means for
companies to compare their maintenance and reliability performance
to others in the same or similar industry. Survey participants
will receive a report that compares their performance to
other companies who complete this survey. All responses
are sent electronically to APQC and treated as strictly
confidential. In the survey report, only the respondent’s
data will be identified. The data for other companies will
be blinded and normalized; consequently participants will
not be able to identify any individual site or company.
The benchmarking survey questionnaire can
be downloaded below. The information collected through the
survey will be used to calculate the performance of the
participants against others in their industry. The SMRP
Best Practice metrics will be the basis for many of these
calculations. A sample report can also be downloaded below.
The format of the participants final report will be similar
although much more extensive. SMRP will report out the performance
thresholds for all industries at their 2010 conference.
Participants will be able to request specialized reports
that enable them to view their results however they wish.
Companies with multiple plants participating can request
a report that compares their performance internally.
Questions regarding the SMRP Maintenance
and Reliability benchmarking should be directed to Al Poling,
SMRP Technical Director at apoling@smrp.org.
