2016 CMRP of the Year Awards
The CMRP of the Year Awards recognize certified practitioners who demonstrate leadership and excellence in their desire to advance maintenance, reliability and physical asset management within their company and industry. SMRP chooses two (2) certified practitioners through nominations from colleagues and self-nominations with the annual awards program. Winners are honored at the SMRP Annual Conference in front of hundreds of peers and other practitioners. See below for information on the awards, the application, nomination process and criteria.

Veteran Professional Award
George Williams, CMRP, CRL
George is the director of asset management for B. Braun Medical, Inc. U.S. He holds a master’s degree in Reliability Engineering from Monash University. He spent 16 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company where he was ultimately responsible for asset management and awarded Uptime Magazine's Best Maintenance and Reliability Program in 2015. George teaches for the University of Wisconsin's Maintenance Management Certificate Program.

Rising Leader Award
Robert Bishop CMRP, CRL, ISO 55K
Robert is the manager of maintenance and reliability at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. In his time there, Robert has worked in validation, equipment qualification and the maintenance and reliability fields. He holds a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a master’s in Bioengineering from Syracuse University. Robert is the Chair of the SMRP Pharmaceutical & Biotech Shared Interest Group and teaches reliability topics for the University of Wisconsin – Madison Department of Engineering Professional Development.

Veteran Professional Award: Presented to one maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professional with more than 10 years of experience in the profession.
Rising Leader Award: Presented to one maintenance, reliability and physical asset management professional with less than 10 years of experience in the profession.
THE 2016 APPLICATION IS CLOSED
Both self-nominations and colleague nominations are accepted. If you would like to nominate a colleague, please be sure to notify them. We encourage you to work with the nominee to complete the applications questions, keeping in mind that incomplete applications will not be considered. Previous winners are not eligible to apply; however, previous nominees are encouraged to submit a new nomination.
Nominations are open from April 18, 2016 and will be accepted until July 15, 2016.
Nominations should demonstrate an individual’s experience and expertise in the maintenance, reliability and physical asset management profession. Nominations will be scored on the following criteria:
Nominees must hold the CMRP certification. If the certification is set to expire prior to October 2016, the nominee must confirm his/her intention to recertify.
Nominees should demonstrate their leadership experience in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management, including:
- Notable employment positions held
- Volunteer leadership positions held in maintenance, reliability and/or physical asset management organization(s)
- Knowledge sharing with peers (published articles, presentations, etc.)
- Professional awards earned
Positive Effect of Accomplishments
Nominees are required to submit a brief explanation of the positive impact their professional accomplishments have made for employers/customers/clients.
Continuing Education & Professional Development
Nominees will be scored on their commitment to continuing education in maintenance, reliability and physical asset management.
AWARD WINNER INFORMATION
Award winners will be notified by the end of September 2016. Selected winners will receive:
- Complimentary registration to the 2016 SMRP Annual Conference in Jacksonville, FL. If you have already registered for the conference before winners are announced, SMRP will reimburse the cost.
- Up to $1,000 stipend to cover travel and hotel costs associated with 2016 SMRP Annual Conference.
- Recognition and opportunity to accept award during the closing ceremony of the 2016 SMRP Annual Conference.
Award winners are strongly encouraged to attend the 2016 SMRP Annual Conference to accept the awards. Winners are asked to provide brief remarks (no longer than 5 minutes) during the awards presentation.
