The CMRP exam is now available to
take electronically. SMRPCO has partnered with a computer
based testing (CBT) company, SMT, to host exams at
locations all throughout North America. To see the

5 for 50 Rewards |
|
The SMRPCO Board of Directors
has approved a rewards program for submission of candidate
CMRP exam questions. The "5 for 50 Rewards Program"
has been established for calendar year 2007 to encourage
anyone (SMRP member or not) to submit valid questions
that may be added to the CMRP exam question "bank."
Simply submit questions to Exam Director, Terry Harris
at tkharris10@hotmail.com
. Once you have submitted five valid
questions, a gift card for $50 will be sent to you.

Re-Certification Requirements
|
|
To maintain their certification,
all CMRP's must participate in 50 hours of relevant
skill development and training over the 3-year re-certification
period. This can be achieved by participating in any
combination of items from the list of approved activities.
Applicants must show participation, and provide hours
for a minimum of 2 areas from the list of approved
activities. Complete and return a re-certification
form by the anniversary date of your CMRP certification
along with the re-certification fee of $275 for non-SMRP
members which includes a one year membership, $150
for SMRP members, or $100 if you are an employee of
a Sustaining Sponsor company. No other documentation
need be submitted with the form, but should be retained
in case your submission is one of the one (1) percent
randomly chosen for audit at time of submission.
In lieu of meeting this requirement,
a CMRP may elect to re-take the exam for certification.

The material in this guide includes,
but is not limited to:
• Information on mission of SMRP relative to
certification, purpose of, rationale for and benefits
of certification, background concerning exam development,
overview of the exam process, time allowed and number
of times and intervals required between sitting for
the exam, how to find exam venues and register, candidate
eligibility, application and security requirements,
accommodation for candidates with disabilities, for
candidates whose second language is not one in which
the exam is given, Code of Ethics for Candidates and
Certificants and contents of reports provided after
the exam.
• The subject areas addressed by the exam -
a detailed body of knowledge (Capabilities Inventory)
that was used by SMRPCO to guide development of the
examination to become a Certified Maintenance and
Reliability Professional (CMRP).
• Re-certification purpose, philosophy, requirements,
responsibilities and options for meeting them, application
process, how to prepare for audit of those achievements
claimed, lapsed and inactive status requirements.
• A set of 15 sample examination questions and
answers provided in an appendix to the Guide. These
are typical of questions seen on the certification
exam.

The fee for becoming a Sustaining
Sponsor is an annual dues payment of $1,000.

An annual report of aggregated exam skill areas results
for your employees who have taken the exam will be
