How long is the exam?
The CMRP is 110 multiple choice questions and examinees have 2.5 hours to complete the exam. The CMRT is 175 multiple choice questions and examinees have 3 hours to complete the exam.
How do I study for the exam?
While SMRP does not publish a CMRP or CMRT exam study guide, it does provide a number of helpful Exam Study Resources via the SMRP website.
CMRP candidates may click here to access their Exam Study Resources page. We recommend that you review the CMRP Candidate Guide for Certification and Recertification to become familiar with the five pillars of the Maintenance and Reliability Body of Knowledge. The Candidate Guide also offers practice questions designed to familiarize candidates with the CMRP content.
CMRT candidates may click here to access their Exam Study Resources page. We recommend that you review the CMRT Candidate Guide for Certification and Recertification to become familiar with the four domains in the Maintenance and Reliability Body of Knowledge for Technicians. The Candidate Guide also offers practice questions designed to familiarize candidates with the CMRT content.
How long will I have to wait to get my results?
SMRP aims to mail all exam results by standard mail within 4-6 weeks after the exam date. To ensure your results are mailed properly, please be sure to enter your contact information correctly when filling out the application. The address the candidate puts in the application is the address where results will be sent! You can check the status of your exam results by clicking here.
What happens if my results are lost in the mail?
Examinees will receive one mailed hard copy of their exam results. If results are not received by mail, examinees will be instructed to download electronically a printable results letter and, if earned, a certificate.
Can you tell me my results over the phone, by email or fax them to me?
It is against SMRP policies to notify examinees, employers, or potential employers of their results over the phone, by email or fax. Though we appreciate company support of the SMRP certification program, our policies are in place to protect the confidentiality of the candidate’s results and fulfill ANSI accreditation guidelines.
May I retake the exam if I had an unsuccessful attempt?
Examinees must wait at least 6 months before reapplying to take the exam. When you retake the exam you will be charged the same application fee.
Are the CMRP or CMRT exams offered in any other languages?
The CMRP exam is offered in Spanish both electronically and as a pencil-and-paper exam, and in Portuguese as a pencil-and-paper exam. The CMRT is currently only offered in English.
How long does my certification last?
Both the CMRP and CMRT certifications are active for three years. CMRPs and CMRTs must recertify every three years to maintain their recertification. Click here for more information on Recertification and to access the Recertification application.
