Scholarships Opportunities

AWARDING M&R Students & SMRP Families

In an effort to encourage academic institutions and their students to consider careers in maintenance and reliability, and to further encourage professionalism in the field, the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) will annually award various scholarship monies to selected individuals who have applied for such funds and for which the SMRP Board of Directors acting through the Academic Liaison Committee have deemed deserving. The number and dollar amount of these awards are reviewed annually by the SMRP Board and there is no obligation upon SMRP to continue awards from year-to-year.

SMRP Scholarship & SMRPCO Scholarship: The Dorothy and Jack Nicholas Scholarship

In an effort to increase the number of students interested in the maintenance and reliability profession, the SMRP Board of Directors has authorized two $2,000 USD scholarships for the 2012-2013 school year. For the 12-13 school year scholarship awards will be granted to individual students. Included is one application and one instruction sheet. These may be reproduced as needed for distribution to students.

Please make these applications available to the students in your maintenance and or reliability focused programs that will be entering the second half of the program. (i.e. their junior or senior year of a 4 year program or the second year of a 2 year program)

The deadline for individuals to apply for a 2012-2013 scholarship consideration is August 15, 2012. Award notices will be mailed late August or early September.

SMRP Higher Standards Scholarship**

This scholarship is a great benefit not just to our members but their families as well! This program is designed to encourage our members and our member's students or families to further their education and reach their full potential. The SMRP Board of Directors has authorized one $2,000 USD scholarship for the 2012-13 school year. The Higher Standards Scholarship award will be granted to an individual student, enrolled in an accredited college or university, regardless of their concentration.

Eligibility to apply for scholarship funds:
- The officers, directors, and the scholarship chairperson of SMRP, SMRP Foundation, or SMRPCO and their direct dependents are ineligible to apply for scholarships funded by the SMRP, SMRP Foundation, and SMRPCO.
