Improving Production Reliability is a one
day course that will review the application of the Production
Improvement Cycle and associated production improvement
methodologies. It will cover the application of the tools
for enhanced plant performance with regard to throughput,
operating expense and customer service.
The workshop will provide instruction and practical exercises
for participants covering:
•Identifying, classifying and quantifying production
losses and waste
•Identifying projects/actions, including a standard
process, metrics and review procedures to reduce or eliminate
losses and waste
•Development of leading indicators and metrics for
tracking progress and maintaining control
•Determining how a problem solution or process change
is tested, developed into a specific set of instructions/procedures,
standardized, and proliferated
•The workshop will also highlight the role of Operations
Management in establishing and managing an effective production
optimization program for the facility.
Participants learn:
•Calculation of overall equipment effectiveness (OEE
– Asset Utilization and Equipment Performance)
•Identification and classification of production losses
to create a loss map
•How to analyze a loss map to determine improvement
themes
•Establishment of reliability performance measures
to track and guide production improvement
•Production analysis tools including Process and Value
Stream Mapping
•Root cause analysis tools including 5 Whys, and Cause
and Effect Diagrams
•Production process improvement tools including Constraint
Management, Standard Operations and Quick Change Over and
Start Up (SMED)
•Development, implementation and management of a Production
Improvement Plan
