The material in this guide includes, but is not limited
to:
• Information on mission of SMRP relative to certification,
purpose of, rationale for and benefits of certification,
background concerning exam development, overview of the
exam process, time allowed and number of times and intervals
required between sitting for the exam, how to find exam
venues and register, candidate eligibility, application
and security requirements, accommodation for candidates
with disabilities, for candidates whose second language
is not one in which the exam is given, Code of Ethics for
Candidates and Certificants and contents of reports provided
after the exam.
• The subject areas addressed by the exam - a detailed
body of knowledge (Capabilities Inventory) that was used
by SMRPCO to guide development of the examination to become
a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
• Re-certification purpose, philosophy, requirements,
responsibilities and options for meeting them, application
process, how to prepare for audit of those achievements
claimed, lapsed and inactive status requirements.
• A set of 15 sample examination questions and answers
provided in an appendix to the Guide. These are typical
of questions seen on the certification exam.
